Global investors in South Korea are pushing the nation's biggest conglomerates to accelerate corporate governance reforms, as uneven progress leaves local equities trading at steep discounts. The benchmark KOSPI index is up 35% for the year, yet about 70% of its stocks trade at or below book value per LSEG data. That persistent valuation gap threatens to stall the government's drive to eliminate the so-called Korea Discount.
