France manufacturing returned to contraction in October as new orders fell at the fastest rate since July 2025. Rising price pressures and supply disruptions further weighed on factory output and employment across the sector.

France's manufacturing sector fell back into contraction in October as the PMI dropped to 49.5 points after two months of expansion. The final October reading came in slightly above the flash estimate of 49.3 points but remained below the 50-point threshold separating growth from contraction. The downturn threatens broader economic momentum across the eurozone's second-largest economy as demand weakens.
