Germany Foreign Investment Rose 50 Percent in 2025
Foreign investment in Germany increased 50 percent last year to 86 billion euros, driven by a surge in British inflows that offset a sharp decline from the United States.
Foreign direct investment in Germany rose 50% to €86 billion ($99.91 billion) in 2025, driven by a surge in British inflows, according to German Economic Institute data released on Monday morning. Total inflows exceeded the 2015-2024 median by 11%, even as U.S. capital commitments dropped sharply. The shift reshapes Europe's economic landscape as British firms overtook American counterparts as the country's primary backers.
