The U.S. FDA approved Partner Therapeutics Bizengri for adults with rare advanced bile duct cancer on Friday. It is the first treatment approved for advanced cholangiocarcinoma patients carrying a specific genetic mutation after prior therapy failed. The approval marks the seventh use under the FDA's National Priority Voucher pilot program.

The FDA granted approval under a fast-track program designed to expedite reviews for rare diseases with limited options. Partner Therapeutics received the priority voucher on Wednesday, two days before the regulatory decision.
