FCC clears Verizon $1 billion US Cellular spectrum deal
The FCC approved Verizon's one billion dollar acquisition of spectrum from US Cellular. The deal aims to boost network capacity and meet rising customer demand.
VERIZON COMMUNICATIONS INC received FCC approval on Thursday to acquire $1 billion in spectrum assets from Array Digital Infrastructure. The deal follows a larger $4.4 billion transaction where T-MOBILE US INC acquired the majority of the same seller's wireless operations. For investors, this consolidation secures the network capacity needed to meet rising data demand.
### Expanding Network Capacity and Coverage The FCC stated the acquisition will enhance network coverage, capacity, and performance for Verizon. This move allows the carrier to bolster its existing infrastructure to handle increasing customer demand. Kathy Grillo, Verizon senior vice president, said the additional spectrum will allow Verizon to better serve customers while strengthening its network.
