FCA Sets Final Car Finance Payout at 12 Billion Dollars
The FCA set a 9.1 billion pound compensation bill for unfair vehicle loans on Monday. The final figure was lowered from 11 billion pounds after industry talks.
The motor finance industry in the United Kingdom must pay £9.1 billion ($12 billion) to compensate consumers for unfair vehicle loans, according to the final assessment by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). This figure represents a conclusion to one of the most expensive financial mis-selling scandals in British history.
The final compensation amount, released following the close of the stock market, is lower than the initial estimate of £11 billion. This adjustment was made after a consultation period that involved significant feedback from major industry players, including Lloyds Banking Group plc, Close Brothers Group plc, and Barclays PLC, alongside the financing divisions of several vehicle manufacturers.
