Europe adds 8.8 GW of wind capacity in first half
Europe installed 8.8 gigawatts of wind capacity in the first half of 2026, marking a significant increase from last year. Germany led the continent with 39 percent of the new installations while offshore connections tripled.

Europe added 8.8 gigawatts of wind capacity in the first half of the year, marking a 33% increase from the same period in 2025. The expansion builds on a milestone year when renewables outpaced fossil fuels across the European Union. Total continental capacity reached 311 gigawatts by the end of June.
