EU Court Rejects Hungary Challenge Over Russian Assets
The European Union General Court dismissed Hungary legal action against the use of windfall profits from frozen Russian central bank assets to fund Ukraine defence. The court ruled that it lacked jurisdiction to hear the case brought by Budapest.
Hungary lost a legal challenge on Wednesday morning against the European Union's plan to channel windfall profits from frozen central bank reserves to Ukraine's defense. The bloc's second-highest court dismissed the action outright. The ruling clears the path for continued financial support originating from immobilized Russia assets.
