EMS Chemie Q1 Sales Fall 6.7 Percent on Strong Swiss Franc
EMS Chemie reported a 6.7 percent drop in Q1 sales to 487 million francs due to a strong Swiss franc. The firm expects lower 2026 sales but higher operating income.
The specialty chemicals manufacturer EMS-CHEMIE HOLDING AG-REG reported a 6.7% decline in its first-quarter sales on Tuesday, a result heavily influenced by the strengthening of the national currency in Switzerland. As a major producer of polymers and high-performance materials, the company's financial results are often viewed as a leading indicator for the broader European chemical industry, which is set to begin its quarterly reporting cycle later this month.
Net sales for the first quarter of 2026 fell to 487 million Swiss francs ($609 million), compared to 522 million francs during the same period in 2025. The company highlighted that the appreciation of the Swiss franc had a significant negative impact on its revenue figures when translated from international markets.
