Electronic Arts plans to close its BioWare studio and lay off four hundred employees to focus on larger franchises. The publisher cancelled an early Mass Effect project and narrowed its game slate.

Electronic Arts is closing BioWare and cutting 400 jobs, reducing staff by 3% to refocus its game development pipeline. The restructuring follows Electronic Arts closing a $55 billion buyout led by Saudi Arabia{'s'} Public Investment Fund, Silver Lake, and Affinity Partners in August.
