EA Misses Bookings Estimates as Battlefield Engagement Falls
EA missed quarterly bookings estimates as Battlefield engagement fell. The firm is preparing for a $55 billion buyout led by Saudi Arabia's sovereign fund.
ELECTRONIC ARTS INC missed quarterly bookings estimates on Tuesday as player engagement for its Battlefield franchise and mobile segment declined. The publisher reported $1.86 billion in fourth-quarter bookings, trailing the $2.0 billion average estimate tracked by LSEG. This shortfall highlights the difficulty of maintaining long-term live-service revenue in a saturated gaming market.
### Battlefield Engagement Erodes Live-Service Outlook While Battlefield 6 launched strongly late last year, the title now faces a sharp drop in player activity. TD Cowen analysts noted that the most-played metrics on Xbox and PlayStation fell from the third quarter. This attrition directly impacts EA's ability to generate recurring revenue through in-game purchases.
