Egypt Approves Military Support for Saudi Arabia

Egypt parliament authorized President Sisi to provide defensive military support to Saudi Arabia. The measures aim to protect Saudi territory from Houthi attacks while avoiding direct offensive action in Yemen.

Egypt authorised President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on Monday to deploy military support to Saudi Arabia to counter escalating Houthi attacks from Yemen following a closed-door parliamentary vote. At least two-thirds of the legislative chamber backed the defensive mandate, opening a potential new phase in regional security alignments. The measure positions Cairo closer to the conflict zone as geopolitical friction involving Iran intensifies across strategic Middle Eastern trade routes.
