Egypt expected to cut interest rates by 100 basis points this Thursday
Economists predict the central bank will lower deposit rates to 19 percent as inflation continues to cool. This move marks a continuation of an easing cycle.
A Reuters (SY:Reuters) poll of 14 economists released today forecasts that the Central Bank of Egypt (SY:Central Bank of Egypt) will cut its overnight interest rates by 100 basis points on Thursday. The expected move, which would lower the deposit rate to 19.0% and the lending rate to 20.0% in Egypt
EG, is linked to falling inflation and continued monetary easing. If implemented, the cut would materially change official borrowing and deposit rates nationwide.
