Egypt, the Arab world's most populous nation, has been grappling with a structural energy deficit due to a steady decline in domestic natural gas production. In October 2024, Egypt produced 3,635 million cubic meters of gas, a decrease from 3,851 million cubic meters in October 2023. This trend has been evident since late 2022, with production figures showing a consistent downward trajectory. The need for increased imports is further underscored by Egypt's ambition to maintain its status as a regional energy hub.
