EEX Reports Higher 2025 Revenue and Strong Q1 Trading Growth
EEX reported 2025 revenue of 737 million euros as earnings rose 17 percent. Trading volumes climbed in early 2026 amid global energy market uncertainty.
European Energy Exchange (EEX) grew its 2025 revenue 10% to €737 million as power and gas trading volumes reached record levels. The exchange, owned by DEUTSCHE BOERSE AG, saw earnings before interest and taxes rise 17% to €394 million last year. Sustained volatility in global energy markets is driving double-digit growth in derivatives, signaling a high-demand environment for hedging tools.
EEX reported Wednesday that its first-quarter 2026 trading volumes continued to climb. European power spot markets at EPEX SPOT rose 14%, while power derivatives jumped 29% compared to the same period in 2025. The exchange originated in Germany 25 years ago and now operates as the world's largest power trading platform.
