DoorDash offers fuel relief for drivers as gas prices rise
The delivery company will provide weekly payments of up to $15 to drivers who log at least 125 miles. This program is designed to offset rising fuel costs.
DoorDash, Inc. announced on Monday the launch of a new emergency relief initiative designed to support gig workers in the United States as they face a sharp increase in fuel expenses. The move addresses the financial pressure on delivery drivers caused by surging gasoline prices, which have been driven upward by rising crude oil prices and supply disruptions linked to conflict in the Middle East. Over the past month, national average retail gasoline prices have jumped by more than 30 percent, reaching nearly $4 per gallon. Under the newly established program, delivery personnel who complete at least 125 miles per week on orders will be eligible for a weekly fuel relief payment. These payments are structured to begin at $5 and can reach a maximum of $15, depending on the total mileage driven by the worker. The program is scheduled to remain in effect through April 26, 2026. The company stated that the initiative could provide eligible drivers with savings equivalent to approximately $1.90 per gallon each week.
