Dominican President Urges UN to Strengthen Haiti Mission
Dominican Republic President Luis Abinader urged the United Nations to increase troops and enforce arms embargoes for Haiti. He warned that renewing the security mandate without resources will prolong the crisis.

Dominican Republic President Luis Abinader urged the United Nations during the afternoon session on September 23 to deploy 5,550 security personnel to Haiti. The international force has deployed only one-fifth of its authorized personnel. The appeal follows an escalation of gang violence that left 47 people dead in Kenscoff.
