Cyclic Materials will invest over 82 million dollars in a South Carolina facility for rare earth oxides. This move aims to bolster domestic supply chains.
Cyclic Materials announced it will invest more than $82 million to build a rare-earth recycling campus in South Carolina. This project is expected to begin operations in 2028 and aims to expand processing capacity for critical minerals within the US
US. The new facility will focus on producing recycled Mixed Rare Earth Oxides, known as MREO, which are essential components for the manufacturing of high-performance magnets used in a variety of sectors.
The recycling campus will use specialized processes from a company based in Canada
CAto separate and recover MREOs from end-of-life products that are typically not recycled for rare-earth recovery. Initially, the site will be capable of producing about 600 tonnes of recycled MREO per year, with a planned expansion to eventually increase that output to 1,800 tonnes. Ahmad Ghahreman ahmad ghahreman, the CEO of Cyclic Materials, stated that the company has its planned production tied up in offtake agreements. Ahmad Ghahremanalso noted that the industrial ecosystem in South Carolina connects well with the requirements of the project.
