Congo opposition rejects rebellion and urges talks

Democratic Republic of Congo opposition leaders have rejected an armed rebellion led by former President Joseph Kabila. The coalition called for inclusive dialogue and opposed constitutional reforms extending presidential term limits.

The Democratic Republic of the Congo's main opposition coalition rejected armed rebellion on Tuesday, urging an inclusive political dialogue to resolve the ongoing conflict.

The C64 coalition issued its first joint statement following a two-day meeting in Italy's capital, Rome. The bloc includes five opposition leaders who distanced themselves from the Rwanda-backed insurgent group led by former President Joseph Kabila.
