President Gustavo Petro of Colombia has announced that his administration will submit an economic emergency decree and a new tax reform bill to Congress to balance the 2026 budget. In a televised address on Tuesday evening, the president declared that if the legislative body does not approve these economic proposals, he will implement them by executive decree.
