China Chipmakers Take 41 Percent Share of AI Market
Chinese AI chip vendors captured 41% of the domestic market last year as Nvidia's share fell to 55%. Huawei led local shipments amid US export controls.
Domestic semiconductor manufacturers in China have captured nearly 41% of the country's artificial intelligence accelerator server market, marking a significant shift in a landscape once dominated by foreign technology. According to data from an IDC report, the rise of local players coincides with a shrinking lead for NVIDIA CORP, which has faced increasing challenges due to export restrictions imposed by the United States.
Total shipments of AI accelerator cards in the region reached approximately 4 million units in 2025. While Nvidia remained the market leader with 2.2 million units and a 55% share, this represents a retreat for the American firm. Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) maintained a modest presence, shipping roughly 160,000 cards for a 4% market share.
