China launches reciprocal trade probes into US practices
China's commerce ministry initiated two investigations into U.S. trade practices on Friday. The reciprocal moves respond to recent U.S. Section 301 probes.
The commerce ministry of China announced on Friday that it has launched two "reciprocal" investigations into trade practices by the United States. These probes are aimed at identifying U.S. measures that hinder the flow of Chinese products into the American market, a move that suggests Beijing is opting for a measured response rather than immediate retaliation.

According to an official statement, the investigations were initiated in direct response to two U.S. Section 301 probes recently directed at China. The ministry described its actions as reciprocal and necessary to maintain trade balance.
Based on the findings of the investigations, China will take corresponding measures to defend its rights and interests.
The probes are expected to conclude within six months, though the ministry noted that the timeline could be extended if circumstances require. The findings will determine the subsequent steps taken by the Chinese government to protect its economic interests in the face of ongoing trade tensions with the United States.
