Century Aluminum and EGA to Build First New Primary Smelter in Decades
Century Aluminum has joined a massive Oklahoma smelter project to double domestic output. The plant aims to ease record prices and reduce import reliance.

On January 26, 2026, Century Aluminum Company announced that it will take a 40 percent stake in the planned primary Aluminum smelter in Inola, Oklahoma. Emirates Global Aluminium, which initially announced plans for the site in May 2025, will retain a 60 percent ownership stake. This project represents the first primary Aluminumplant to be built in the US
