Caturus to Build 12.5 Billion Dollar Louisiana LNG Plant
Caturus has authorized the construction of its Commonwealth LNG project in Louisiana after securing 9.75 billion dollars in financing. The integrated facility aims to export 9.5 million metric tons annually by 2030, supported by major investments from Mubadala Energy and CPP Investment Board.
Caturus approved construction of the $12.5 billion Commonwealth LNG export facility in the United States after securing $9.75 billion in funding on Friday. The project will process liquefied natural gas for export as a fully integrated operation. The facility is expected to generate $3 billion in annual export revenue once operational.
Caturus combines natural gas production and liquefaction—a model distinct from typical standalone export hubs that buy gas from separate producers. This structure aims to reduce exposure to volatile spot markets and strengthen America's position as the world's largest LNG exporter.
