Canada trade surplus hits 15-month high in April
Canada's goods trade surplus jumped 55% in April to C$2.72 billion as energy exports reached record levels amid rising global crude prices. Total exports grew 1.6% to C$75.16 billion despite a decline in gold shipments, while the trade surplus with the United States rose to its highest point since early 2025.

Statistics Canada revised the March surplus down to C$1.75B from an initial C$1.78B. Energy exports rose 9.7% in April after a 23.4% jump in March. Higher prices for crude drove the gains amid conflict in Iran.
