Canada approves 4 billion dollar Enbridge gas expansion
Prime Minister Mark Carney has greenlit a major natural gas expansion in British Columbia to boost economic growth. Construction begins this July for 2028.
The federal government of Canada has officially greenlit a C$4 billion ($2.93 billion) expansion of the Westcoast natural gas pipeline system, marking a significant milestone for the country's energy infrastructure. This project, spearheaded by ENBRIDGE INC, represents the first major pipeline approval under the administration of Prime Minister Mark Carney.
Elected last year on a platform focused on economic growth and protection against tariffs from the United States, Carney has prioritized the acceleration of permitting timelines for resource projects. Historically, major construction in the region has been hindered by complex regulatory hurdles and legal disputes.
