Brookfield-backed Clean Max IPO ends with 94% subscription
India's largest IPO of the year so far saw a muted reception as it reached 94 percent subscription on its final day. Institutional buyers drove the demand.
Clean Max Enviro Energy Solutions, a renewable energy provider backed by Brookfield, saw its 31 billion-rupee ($341 million) initial public offering (IPO) conclude with a 94% subscription rate on its final day of bidding. This performance represents a relatively quiet reception for the largest public listing in India[Country:{"assets":{"country":"IN"}}] to date in 2026.

The power producer, which provides green energy to major corporate clients including Amazon.com, Inc.[Symbol:{"assets":{"symbol":"AMZN"}}] and Alphabet Inc.[Symbol:{"assets":{"symbol":"GOOG"}}], received bids for 20.6 million shares out of the 21.8 million available. The lukewarm demand comes amidst a broader slowdown in the primary market, with only five listings recorded so far this year compared to ten during the same period in 2025.
Kuldeep Jain, Managing Director of Clean Max, noted that the subscription levels were reflective of current market volatility rather than company-specific issues.
"A muted opening is largely driven by market sentiment - its not in the companys hands," Jain told Reuters. "Markets are soft and IPO markets are weak, and investors are nervous."
Despite the soft debut, Jain emphasized that the company's operational and execution strategies remain unchanged. Clean Max is positioned to benefit from the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence infrastructure in the region. Global technology leaders such as Meta Platforms, Inc.[Symbol:{"assets":{"symbol":"META"}}], Microsoft Corporation[Symbol:{"assets":{"symbol":"MSFT"}}], and RELIANCE INDUSTRIES LTD[Symbol:{"assets":{"symbol":"500325.BO"}}] are currently scaling their capacities, driving significant demand for sustainable power.
According to Jain, the data and AI segment has seen explosive growth, increasing nearly tenfold between March 2024 and October 2025, and now accounts for 44% of the company's total revenue. Nomura has also forecasted accelerated growth in the construction and electrical equipment sectors to support this infrastructure surge.
In terms of the offering structure, Clean Max is raising 12 billion rupees through a fresh issue of shares and 19 billion rupees via an offer for sale. The company is seeking an overall valuation of approximately 123.3 billion rupees. Subscription data showed that qualified institutional investors led the demand at 2.83 times their allotted portion. However, interest from non-institutional and retail investors remained low, at 0.54 times and 0.06 times, respectively. The company is scheduled to list on the stock exchange on March 2.
