UK sanctions Cambodia scam center and crypto marketplace
Britain sanctioned a Cambodian scam site and a crypto platform to combat fraud. The move freezes London assets and targets networks using trafficked workers.
The United Kingdom has announced new sanctions targeting the operators of a massive fraud compound in Cambodia and a cryptocurrency marketplace allegedly used to trade stolen personal data. The move is part of a broader effort to disrupt organized online scam networks in Southeast Asia, where trafficked workers are often held in guarded facilities and forced to conduct fraudulent activities.
The British government designated Legend Innovation, the operator of a newly identified compound known as #8 Park. Officials described the site as the largest of its kind in the region, with the capacity to accommodate 20,000 trafficked workers. Also sanctioned was Xinbi, a Chinese-language cryptocurrency platform that provides tools and services to fraud networks, including the sale of satellite communication equipment and compromised personal information.
