The United Kingdom will expand its upcoming carbon import levy to include refined products, Treasury documents showed on Wednesday afternoon. The policy aims to protect domestic refiners from lower-cost foreign competition as environmental standards tighten. The move marks a significant broadening of the carbon border tax ahead of its scheduled 2027 rollout.
