Following discussions with Friedrich Merz of Germany and Giorgia Meloni of Italy, Downing Street confirmed that the leaders reached a consensus on the critical nature of maritime stability. The parties agreed to maintain close cooperation in the coming days to ensure the freedom of navigation remains unhindered despite threats attributed to Iran. A spokesperson for the Prime Minister highlighted the ongoing efforts to safeguard trade routes during a press briefing on Tuesday. > "Were working with our allies on a range of options to support commercial shipping through the Strait as the threat picture develops," the spokesperson told reporters when asked about the readout. The collaborative effort aims to provide a robust response to the evolving security landscape in the Middle East, ensuring that vital energy and trade corridors remain accessible to the global market.
