Oil Hits 115 Dollars Amid Heightened Middle East Tensions
Brent crude hit 115 dollars as Middle East tensions raised supply concerns. Markets now await German inflation data and comments from Fed Chair Jerome Powell.
Global financial markets are experiencing a significant downturn as energy prices continue their rapid ascent. Brent Crude Oil Futures surged past $115 per barrel at the start of trading, marking a monthly increase of approximately 59%. This surge is on track to be the largest monthly gain on record, surpassing the volatility observed when Iraq invaded Kuwait in 1990.
The geopolitical landscape remains volatile, complicating efforts to stabilize markets. While Pakistan has attempted to facilitate peace negotiations, representatives from the United States and Iran have shown reluctance to engage. Tensions have further escalated in the south as Yemen based Houthi forces launched strikes against Israel. This development is particularly concerning for global trade, as it threatens shipping through the Bab el-Mandeb in the Red Sea, a vital corridor for the global oil trade alongside the Strait of Hormuz.
