Brazil Reclaims Top Spot for Chinese Global Investment
Brazil attracted 6.1 billion dollars in Chinese investment in 2025 to lead global rankings. Funding rose 45 percent with a focus on energy and mining.
Brazil reclaimed its position as the top global destination for capital from China in 2025, attracting $6.1 billion across dozens of projects. This 45% increase in investment gave Brazil a 10.9% share of total Chinese outbound capital, surpassing the United States at 6.8% and Guyana at 5.7%. Investors are prioritizing Latin America's largest economy to secure footholds in clean energy, mining, and the automotive sector.
### Mining and Energy Drive Capital Inflows While the electricity sector remained the primary recipient of Chinese capital, mining interest surged as investments tripled in 2025. Over the past five years, Brazil has alternated between first and fifth place among the world's top destinations for Chinese investment, having claimed the top spot in 2021. Brazil's combination of a large consumer market, abundant natural resources, and a weak currency continues to attract long-term commitments.
