Brazil Plans 4B Budget Shift for Lula Policies
Brazils Planning Ministry says a four billion dollar budget reallocation is required in 2027 to fund new measures announced by President Lula. Officials maintain the adjustments will respect existing fiscal spending caps and primary budget targets.

Brazil's Planning Ministry said on Monday that budget reallocations of 20 billion reais ($3.95B) are needed in 2027 to fund new measures announced by President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. The announcement comes ahead of Sunday's presidential runoff vote after Lula trailed right-wing Senator Flavio Bolsonaro in the first round. The fiscal adjustment amounts to 1% of total primary expenditure subject to spending limits under the country's fiscal framework.
