BLACKROCK INC reported a significant increase in first-quarter profit on Tuesday, as the world's largest asset manager benefited from robust inflows into its exchange-traded funds. The firm's active ETFs have continued to attract investors seeking to navigate market dispersion through low-cost investment options, particularly as global geopolitical tensions and macroeconomic pressures impact the broader market.

Total assets under management (AUM) reached $13.89 trillion, a substantial rise from the $11.58 trillion reported in the same period last year. These strong inflows have helped the investment manager maintain stability and counter the effects of a declining market. For the three months ended March 31, the company posted a net profit of $2.21 billion, or $14.06 per share, compared with $1.51 billion, or $9.64 per share, a year earlier.

In terms of stock performance, BlackRock shares have declined 4.4% so far in 2026, underperforming its smaller peer STATE STREET CORP. This trend comes as the S&P 500 index lost 4.6% during the first quarter of the year. However, following the release of the quarterly results, BlackRock's shares were up 2.42% in premarket trading.
