Bitcoin price drops as investors shift to AI stocks
The largest cryptocurrency has lost a third of its value in 2026 as capital flows toward artificial intelligence and semiconductor ETFs. Investors withdrew a record 2.7 billion dollars from bitcoin funds this week while pouring billions into tech-focused assets and upcoming listings.
Bitcoin fell 15% this week to approximately $63,000 as investors rotate capital away from the cryptocurrency toward artificial intelligence stocks and high-profile private listings. The decline marks the sharpest weekly drop since the late 2022 collapse of FTX and contributes to a 33% loss for the asset so far in 2026. This shift signals a breakdown in the historical role of the token as a portfolio diversifier as institutional involvement dampens its characteristic volatility.
