CATL Explores Five Billion Dollar Share Sale in Hong Kong
The world's largest electric vehicle battery maker is considering a potential share sale in Hong Kong to raise up to $5 billion. Discussions remain ongoing.
China's leading battery manufacturer, CONTEMPORARY AMPEREX TECHN-A, is reportedly weighing a significant share sale in Hong Kong that could generate up to $5 billion. The move comes as the company seeks to capitalize on a substantial rally in its stock price over the past year.

The world’s largest producer of electric-vehicle batteries has initiated preliminary talks with financial institutions regarding the potential offering. In addition to the share sale, the firm is also investigating the possibility of issuing convertible bonds as a component of its broader strategy for capital raising.
Market interest in the company has remained high since its debut on the local exchange last May. Since that time, the firm’s shares have surged by approximately 130%. Despite the scale of the proposed financing, sources indicate that deliberations are currently in the early stages and a final decision has not yet been reached.
