The Bank of Japan reported gradual progress in anchoring inflation around its two percent target. Officials noted that underlying inflation supports the case for future interest rate increases.

Japan made gradual progress toward anchoring inflation around the central bank's 2% target, the Bank of Japan said on Monday, bolstering the case for raising interest rates. The quarterly report follows the central bank's recent policy deliberations in Tokyo. The findings pave the way for further monetary tightening to alleviate price pressures and support consumer spending.
