Bangladesh tenders 495 MW of solar power during Iran war
Bangladesh has invited bids for 495 megawatts of solar power to cut fuel imports. This move responds to rising energy costs driven by the ongoing Iran war.
Bangladesh launched tenders for 495 megawatts of solar power to reduce its dependence on expensive imported fuels. The move follows a global energy price surge triggered by the war in Iran. Diversifying the energy mix is critical for the nation of 175 million people to mitigate exposure to volatile fossil fuel markets.
### Securing Grid Stability Through Solar The Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) invited bids for 10 grid-connected solar projects. These plants range from 25 MW to 100 MW and will be developed by private investors. BPDB officials said placing these facilities near existing substations will support grid stability and lower the strain on fossil fuel-based generation.
