Bangladesh hikes petrol and kerosene prices by 5 taka
Bangladesh raised petrol and kerosene prices by 5 taka per litre to reflect global market shifts. The move is expected to increase transport and food costs.
Bangladesh raised retail petrol and kerosene prices by 5 taka per liter on June 1 to align with rising global energy costs. This marks the second fuel price hike in six weeks for the import-dependent economy. Higher energy costs threaten to accelerate inflation across transport and food sectors for the nation's consumers.
### Global Volatility Drives Domestic Costs The new rates set petrol at 140 taka ($1.15) per liter and kerosene at 135 taka per liter. Diesel prices remain unchanged at 115 taka per liter. The Bangladesh Energy Ministry stated the revised rates reflect shifts in international petroleum product prices and import costs.
