Arm shares rise 15 percent on new AI chip projections
Arm shares rose 15 percent today as the firm projected 15 billion dollars in annual revenue from its new AI chip. This pivot targets agentic AI systems.
Shares of Arm Holdings surged in the United States on Wednesday following the company's announcement of a new artificial intelligence data-center chip projected to drive billions in annual revenue. The stock climbed more than 15% to reach $155.60 during morning trading, marking its highest valuation since November. If these gains hold, the rally is expected to add over $21 billion to the firm's total market value.
The introduction of the AGI CPU represents a strategic pivot for the company. Historically, Arm has focused on licensing its semiconductor designs to major partners like NVIDIA Corporation and QUALCOMM Incorporated, collecting royalty payments based on unit sales. Unlike traditional chips designed for chatbot queries, the new AGI CPU is engineered to handle the intensive data-processing requirements of agentic AI—systems capable of acting on behalf of users with minimal oversight.
