Monthly inflation in Argentina remained steady at 2.9% in February, according to official data released on Thursday. While the figure was unchanged from the level recorded in January 2026, it came in slightly higher than the 2.7% rate anticipated by market analysts. On an annual basis, consumer prices climbed 33.1% through the end of the month, surpassing both the previous month's rate of 32.4% and the 32.7% consensus forecast.
The primary drivers of the monthly increase were living costs, including rent and utilities, which surged 6.8%. Food and non-alcoholic beverages followed with a 3.3% rise. In other sectors, clothing prices remained stable, while the costs of alcohol and tobacco saw a slight uptick.
