AMBUJA CEMENTS LTD posted a 34.7% drop in standalone adjusted quarterly profit on Thursday morning, pressured by higher fuel and freight costs across India. The company reported net profit before exceptional items and tax fell to 1.69 billion rupees ($17.7 million) for the quarter ended September. The drop highlights persistent cost pressures facing the construction sector as petcoke and coal prices remain elevated.
