Allbirds Rebrands to NewBird AI Amid Tech Pivot Trend
U.S. companies like Allbirds are rebranding to focus on artificial intelligence to attract investors. This follows a trend of firms pivoting to tech sectors.
The United States corporate sector is witnessing a resurgence of business transformations as smaller firms pivot toward artificial intelligence and digital technology to capture investor interest. A notable example of this trend is ALLBIRDS INC-CL A, which saw its stock price increase more than six-fold after rebranding as NewBird AI to focus on AI computing. This shift was quickly followed by MYSEUM INC, which recorded a nearly 150% gain after incorporating AI into its corporate identity. Among the most successful pivots in recent years is STRATEGY INC. Originally a software firm specializing in financial data analysis, the company rebranded and became one of the largest corporate holders of bitcoin. The firm's stock experienced massive growth in 2023 and 2024, mirroring the rising value of the cryptocurrency market. The transition from cryptocurrency mining to AI infrastructure has also gained significant momentum. COREWEAVE INC-CL A, which started as an ethereum miner in 2017, successfully transitioned into a cloud infrastructure provider and debuted on the Nasdaq in 2025. Other players in the digital infrastructure space include APPLIED DIGITAL CORP and HUT 8 CORP, both of which have moved toward hosting data centers to meet high-performance computing demand. CORE SCIENTIFIC INC joined this trend after emerging from bankruptcy in early 2024, partnering with CoreWeave to repurpose its existing infrastructure for AI workloads. In the media and finance sectors, TRUMP MEDIA & TECHNOLOGY GRO expanded its operations by creating a bitcoin treasury and exploring digital finance ventures. Similarly, DOMINARI HOLDINGS INC moved away from its healthcare origins as Alkido Pharma to focus on financial services and high-performance computing infrastructure through its American Data Centers venture. The consumer goods sector has also seen radical changes as companies seek to capitalize on tech euphoria. ALGORHYTHM HOLDINGS INC, previously a karaoke machine vendor known as The Singing Machine Company, acquired an AI logistics firm to reposition itself. Meanwhile, ALT5 SIGMA CORP shifted focus from recycling and biopharma into the cryptocurrency market, though it has faced challenges with wavering investor appetite. These moves follow a historical pattern of companies chasing technological trends. RIOT PLATFORMS INC originally operated as a diagnostic equipment maker before rebranding to focus on blockchain in 2017. Even established entities like EASTMAN KODAK CO previously sought to capitalize on digital trends by launching its own cryptocurrency for photographers in 2018, resulting in a historic monthly jump in its share price.
