Algeria Launches 2026 Oil and Gas Exploration Round
Algeria opened a licensing round on Sunday for seven oil and gas blocks to boost output. The bidding process begins in June with contracts signed next January.
Algeria has officially launched its 2026 oil and gas licensing round, offering seven exploration blocks in a strategic effort to enhance production and attract international investment. The initiative, titled Algeria Bid Round 2026, aims to bolster the nation's output of Brent Crude Oil and Natural Gas while reinforcing its position in the global energy market.
The blocks are located in the regions of Ouargla, Illizi, Touggourt, and El Bayadh. Officials noted during a ceremony in Algiers that these areas are estimated to contain hundreds of millions of barrels of oil along with significant natural gas reserves. The technical phase of the bidding process is scheduled to begin on June 1, with access to tender documents and online presentations. This will be followed by data sessions and clarification periods running until October 31.
