Alberta Holds Historic Separation Referendum
Alberta is holding a nonbinding referendum asking residents if they want to remain in Canada or begin the process of separation. Polls show most residents favor staying, with results expected within 48 hours after voting ends.

Polls show that 70% of residents want to stay, while roughly a quarter support independence. This marks the first time the province has put separation to a public vote.
