Air China 2025 Net Loss Widens to 1.77 Billion Yuan
Air China reported a 1.77 billion yuan loss for 2025 due to domestic fare pressure. The result is wider than the 233 million yuan loss seen in 2024.
The flagship carrier AIR CHINA LTD-H reported a net loss of 1.77 billion yuan ($256.17 million) for the 2025 fiscal year, reversing signs of recovery as the airline faced significant pressure from domestic market competition. The full-year results, released in Hong Kong, fell within the company's January estimate of 1.3 billion to 1.9 billion yuan but were substantially wider than the 233 million yuan loss recorded in 2024.
The airline's financial performance took a sharp turn in the final months of the year. After posting a profit in the third quarter due to the peak summer travel season, the carrier swung to a loss of 3.64 billion yuan in the fourth quarter. This volatility underscores the ongoing challenges within the aviation industry in China, where fare competition has intensified.
