Anthropic and White House Ease Tensions Before IPO
The relationship between the Trump administration and AI firm Anthropic is improving as the company prepares for a potential one trillion dollar stock market debut. Despite ongoing legal disputes over a Pentagon supply chain blacklist, CEO Dario Amodei has engaged in recent policy discussions with White House officials.
Anthropic is easing tensions with the United States government as it prepares for an IPO that could value the firm at $1 trillion. The relationship fractured earlier this year after the company blocked military use of its models, triggering a national security blacklist. ### Thawing Relations After Security Blacklist The dispute began when Anthropic refused to allow the U.S. military to use its AI for domestic surveillance or autonomous weapons. In response, the Defense Department labeled the firm a supply-chain risk in March, a designation usually reserved for adversarial foreign entities. The supply-chain risk designation prevents tens of thousands of contractors from using Anthropic technology for military work.
