ACADIA PHARMACEUTICALS INC shares fell 11% on Thursday afternoon after its experimental Alzheimer's psychosis drug missed the main goal of a mid-stage study.
The drug, remlifanserin, showed greater improvement than a placebo in reducing hallucinations and delusions at a 60-milligram daily dose, but the margin fell short of statistical significance. A lower 30-milligram dose showed minimal benefit, though the higher dose met a key secondary goal measuring overall symptom severity.
