Italy Open to Revising Exit Tax

Italy is willing to consider changes to a planned exit tax on wealthy individuals moving abroad. The proposal drew criticism from advisers warning it could hurt the nation's appeal to affluent expats.

Italy is open to revising its planned 26% exit tax on wealthy individuals leaving the country, following pushback from tax advisers. The proposed levy targets capital gains for high earners holding at least €800,000 in financial investments. The Treasury projects €3.4M in revenue from the measure in 2027, scaling to €6.7M in subsequent years.
