South Korea initiates preliminary reviews for US investment projects to avoid trade tensions

Seoul is launching a committee to review U.S. investment projects under a $350 billion trade deal. The move aims to ease tensions following tariff threats.

The South Korean government announced on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, that it will set up a committee for preliminary reviews (to be chaired by the Industry Minister) to speed implementation of a $350 billion investment package (investment fund) pledged under a trade deal with the United States USUS. This initiative is intended to bridge the procedural gap before a special bill enabling the investment fund is enacted and serves as a direct response to U.S. pressure, including a U.S. threat to raise tariffs. South Korea KRKR is moving quickly to demonstrate progress on its commitments.
